Portlandia

We explored downtown Portland today and had a great time.  We started at Pioneer Square which was having an Italian Festival complete with band playing songs like "Amore"-when the moon hits your eye like a big-a pizza pie, that's amore- we went to the Old Town Farmer's Market, walked along the Willamette River, saw China Town, and went to Powell's City of Books.  I love Powell's.  Today's highlights included a 1st Edition Adventures of Tom Sawyer and 1st Edition Stuart Little (that is the one I am holding in the picture).  There was also a book from 1512 with a $4,800 price tag.  I love walking through all the rooms and levels and seeing all the different books everywhere.  It is awesome.  We explored Jeld-Wen Field a little bit and enjoyed the sites and sounds of all the people, there is definately a reason that Portland's Motto is: "Keep Portland Weird", there were plenty of different things and people to watch.

USA vs Canada Soccer

We went to the United States vs Canada game today and it was a blast! The game was great, we had super close seats (not from where my picture was taken) and we had a great view of the United States team, Hope Solo, Abby Wambach, Amy Rodriguez, Megan Rapinoe, Lauren Cheney, etc. USA won 2-1. We got a ton of sun, but it was worth the high temperatures to get a London Olympic Games preview.

Real Salt Lake/One Republic Concert

For any of you who don't already know.....I LOVE going to Rio Tinto Stadium. It is one of the most beautiful, wonderful stadiums ever built in my opinion. We went to the game last night against Sporting Kansas City, and RSL won despite some pretty dumb refs. There was an after-game concert featuring One Republic that we were also greatly looking forward to. To my great surprise and delight they let the entire stadium of people onto the perfectly manicured field for the concert. Just to be honest with you, I am not sure what was better: the game, winning, the concert, or standing on that field at the midline and touching the grass of that place; I am seriously leaning towards the last item on that list. It was a fun night with my sisters and JD.

O Chem 1 Down....O Chem 2 to Go

JD has been taking Organic Chemistry this summer. It is very much like ripping off a bandaid doing the summer route because 1 year of a miserable class is crammed into 7 horrible weeks, twice. To celebrate the wonderous event of part one being done, we played in Salt Lake. JD took his final Saturday morning and when I got off work we went to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple, followed by Ganesh, and Real Salt Lake vs DC United to finish off the evening. It was so fun and nice to play for a night. At this point there are 6 weeks to go then the real celebration will begin! :)
